2015 Young Musicians Bluegrass Contest

The Heritage Association of Rogersville will host the 12th Annual East Tennessee Young Bluegrass Musicians’ Contest on March 21, 2015, beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Rogersville Middle School auditorium located at 958 East McKinney Avenue in Rogersville, Tennessee.

This event is rescheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 4:30 p.m.

Contestants 18 and younger will compete in fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo and vocal categories. Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded in each category. The “Best Overall Performers” will receive additional cash and prizes and an invitation to play at Heritage Days 2015 and the Holston Electric Cooperative Annual meeting in October.

Age groups:
There are three competition age groups for the fiddle category including six and under, 7-12 and 13-18.

Categories:
The guitar, banjo, mandolin and vocal categories have two competitive age groups each including 12 and under, and 13-18.

Entry fee for contestants is $1.00 per category per participant. Each contestant may perform either one or two songs in the competition. Instructors are encouraged to accompany their students. Doors will open and student registration will begin at 4:00 p.m.

General admission for the event is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students; children under 6 years of age are free. The event is a fundraiser for the Rogersville Heritage Association's Heritage Lites Leadership Program Scholarship Fund; a partnership of the Heritage Association of Rogersville and The Rogersville/Hawkins County Chamber of Commerce.
